Fraxel CO2 laser treatment is a dual laser system designed to deal with hyperpigmentation or sun damage, wrinkles and acne scarring. Common procedures include patients having laser applied to their whole faces, however treatments can also target the neck, décolletage, hands and arms. This procedure is more effective than topical treatment for acne scars. Fraxel Restore is a non-ablative laser (no open wounds), while Fraxel Repair is used for more severe cases, and uses an ablative fractionated carbon dioxide laser. Energy from the lasers causes thermal destruction in the skin, which results in the production of new, healthy skin cells replacing the old, damaged cells.
You can receive Fraxel laser treatment in the comfort of our office. It will require you to be topically numbed for 45 minutes, and the procedure will take 20-30 minutes. You might feel some mild discomfort during the procedure, and you will likely have 3-5 days of downtime following the procedure. Depending on what area you are targeting, it will require anywhere from one to five sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart.
