Rosacea is a relatively common skin condition that can cause visible blood vessels and redness in your face. In addition, it is possible that it could also be associated with small, red, pus-filled bumps, an enlarged nose, or even eye problems. Such signs and symptoms can flare up for weeks or months, and then they will go away for a while. Rosacea is often mistaken for acne or other skin problems, or even just natural ruddiness.
Rosacea can affect anyone. However, it is most prevalent in middle-aged women with light skin, who are over age 30, who have a family history of rosacea, or who smoke. There are a number of factors that can cause flare-ups, such as hot drinks, spicy foods, alcohol beverages, temperature extremes, sunlight, wind, emotions, exercise, blood dilating medication or particular cosmetic products. Although there is no cure for rosacea, there are a number of effective treatments to help reduce the signs and symptoms.
